About Maphonic
Turning Sounds into Stories.

Hi, I’m Ilayda Unser, the founder of Maphonic — a project born from the intersection of sound, space, and storytelling. As a designer and architect with a passion for how we experience environments, I created Maphonic to explore the invisible layers of cities through sound.
Maphonic is an experimental platform that maps soundscapes — the unique acoustic signatures of places — to uncover how sound shapes our perception of urban life. Whether it’s the rhythm of a local market, the echoes of historical sites, or the quiet murmurs of hidden alleys, every place has a voice. And we’re here to amplify it.

What started as a personal curiosity has grown into a multidisciplinary initiative combining audio, design, mapping, and memory. Through interactive visuals, immersive experiences, and research-based storytelling, Maphonic invites you to listen closer.
Why Sound?
Because it’s the most overlooked sense in how we design, remember, and relate to places.
What’s Next?
Collaborations, installations, new city archives, and a growing network of people who believe sound can connect us more deeply to the world around us.
